Tropea is the “Pearl of the Tyrrhenian”, a village on a cliff with white beaches and an intense blue sea. It is famous for the church on the sea, red onion and trips to the Aeolian Islands.
Practical tips
- In August Tropea is very crowded: book accommodation and parking in advance.
- For the Aeolian Islands choose a calm-sea day, departing from the harbour.
- Try ’nduja, the spicy Calabrian cured meat.
When to go
From June to September for the sea; May and September are ideal.
