Ravenna at a glance

Ravenna holds eight early Christian and Byzantine monuments that are UNESCO sites, famous for their golden mosaics. It is a small, quiet city to visit by bicycle, close to the coast and to Mirabilandia.

Practical tips

  • A combined ticket lets you visit several monuments at a reduced price.
  • The bicycle is the handiest way to go from one monument to another.
  • Bring binoculars or use your zoom: the details of the mosaics are very high up.

When to go

Spring and autumn are ideal; in summer visit in the morning, then head to the sea at nearby Marina di Ravenna and Punta Marina.
