Pisa is famous for its Leaning Tower, but the real spectacle is the Piazza dei Miracoli with the Duomo, the Baptistery and the Camposanto. The rest of the city, with its Lungarni and the university, is easily visited in half a day.
Practical tips
- Book the climb of the Tower a few days ahead, especially in summer.
- The station is close: in about 20 minutes on foot you reach the Piazza dei Miracoli.
- With half a day more you can visit Lucca, a few kilometres away.
When to go
Spring and autumn are the best seasons; in summer arrive early to avoid queues and heat.
