Mantua is an art city surrounded by three lakes, a UNESCO site together with Sabbioneta. It was the court of the Gonzagas, patrons of the Renaissance, and keeps palaces, squares and a cuisine all its own.
Practical tips

- Many museums can be visited with a combined ticket: ask at the tourist office.
- In summer it is worth visiting the centre in the evening, when it is cooler.
