Mallorca combines turquoise coves, the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana (a UNESCO site) and an elegant capital, Palma. It is ideal for the sea, boat trips, hiking and good wine.
Not to be missed
- Palma cathedral and the old town
- The Serra de Tramuntana, with Valldemossa, Deià and Sóller
- The Caves of Drach on the east coast
- The coves by boat, from Sa Calobra to Formentor
- The inland wineries, with visits and tastings
Practical tips
- In summer the most famous coves fill up early: go in the morning or choose a boat.
- For the Tramuntana trails bring good shoes and plenty of water.
- The historic train between Palma and Sóller is a lovely way into the mountains.
When to go
April to October for the sea; spring and autumn are perfect for walking.
