Lecce is the “Florence of the South”, a baroque city in golden stone with embroidered churches and courtyards. The centre is visited on foot, with cafés, papier-mâché workshops and the Salento pasticciotto.
Practical tips
- Try the hot pasticciotto and the iced coffee with almond milk.
- The city is small: a day or two is enough, with the rest for the sea.
- In summer the squares fill with evening events.
When to go
Spring and autumn; from May to September to combine the city and the beaches of Salento.
