Bellagio is called the pearl of Lake Como: a village of stone steps and lanes on the point that divides the two arms of the lake. It has villas with gardens, silk shops and views of all the mountains.
Practical tips
- The best way to arrive is by ferry from Varenna or Menaggio.
- The village is steep: comfortable shoes for the steps.
- On busy days arrive early in the morning to avoid the crowds.
When to go
From April to October; May and June for the blooms in the gardens, September for the light.
