Amalfi is the city that gives its name to the Coast, once a powerful maritime republic, now a village of white houses on the sea. It has an Arab-Norman Duomo, the Valley of the Mills and mountain paths.
Practical tips
- The most relaxing way to move is the ferry between Salerno, Amalfi and Positano.
- In summer the coast road is congested: avoid the car and use boat or bus.
- Try Amalfi lemon, the delizia al limone and limoncello.
When to go
From April to October; May and September are ideal, with fewer crowds.
