Alberobello is the town of the trulli, small dry-stone houses with conical roofs, a UNESCO site. Two entire districts of trulli, with hills of olive trees and vineyards, make the Itria Valley one of the most characteristic areas of Italy.
Practical tips
- Visit early in the morning or at sunset: in the afternoon the town is crowded.
- Many trulli are restaurants or hotels: try sleeping in one.
- Do not miss the orecchiette and the local wine, such as Primitivo.
When to go
From April to October; in December the Christmas lights illuminate all the trulli.
